The contents of the course are:

1. Growth models: an overview (Eden, DLA, DLCA … ballistic deposition and the KPZ).

2. Application to clonal plant growth. Microscopic growth rules and general results for seagrasses.

3. From the microscopic rules to a macroscopic description.

4. Pattern formation: linear stability analysis por PDE’s.

5. Weakly non-linear analysis: Multiple scales

6. Amplitude equation and generic phenomena

 

Hands on sessions:

1. Roughness in an Eden model

2. Numerical simulation of PDE’s
